The first poem that I choose is describing briefly what the children had lost during the holocaust. They sound so hopeless, because they were. There was nothing they could do there future was being torn from them. They could no longer go to school and train to be doctors or lawyers or whatever they wish to be. There future was now cast in iron, inevitable. There future was no more. The only chance they had of survival was basically in someone else’s hands.
The second poem that I choose is saying how there is no way of describing to us how awful the camps were. There is no way to translate to someone who wasn’t there what people went through. No matter how many languages the author speaks they wont be able to get us to understand what the Jews had to go through.
These pieces of writing make me feel in the dark like I think I might understand what happened but really there is know way to fully understand it. Also they make me feel like life is somewhat helpless like one minute you could be living a happy life and the next everything’s gone and there is nothing you can do about it. All in all I the message that I receive from this is to just live life to the fullest because everything can be destroyed in a matter of seconds.
