The Panama Canal is a 51-mile canal that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean that is used for ships to pass threw instead of going all the way around the SA point. Construction started on the canal in 1880 by the French but by 1890 it was abandon due to bankruptcy and 22,000 deaths. In 1904 the United States bought the concession to the project and all the equipment from the French. The United States picked up right from where the French had left off. Construction was finally completed on January 7 1914. The total length of the canal is 47.9 miles, and runs threw three different lock systems and many artificial lakes. The canal laid in the control of the United States until a treaty was signed by the presidents of both countries granting neutrality of the canal.

Greek declared bankruptcy because of over spending on things that they did not need. To pay for theses thing they got loans from other countries and after a while the interest rate per year rose higher than their annual income so they could only pay so much of it and then it kept rising and soon they had to declare bankruptcy. The reason for the spending on the useless things was so that the Prime minister would be reelected and he spent all the money on the things that made the people happy. He knew that eventually down the road Greece would become bankrupt but he also knew that he would be out of office at this time so that he wouldn’t have to worry about it.
